Over Joan’s many years of practicing her craft, she has trained over 15,000 teachers in tandem with HEART / NTA, National Youth Service, and Jamaica Teaching Council. She has also developed and implemented programmes for the stakeholders in various educational institutions in Jamaica and many other private and public entities, both locally and abroad.
Some such entities in Jamaica are the Bank of Jamaica, National Commercial Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia, Jamaica National Building Society, USAID, Lasco Group of Companies, EDUCOM Credit Union, The Jamaica Teachers Association (J.T.A), The Ministry of Education, Youth and Culture (CSEC workshops and the training of all the lab technicians for the Technical and Vocational areas in schools), some tertiary institutions, such as the University of the West Indies, Mona, University of Technology, The Mico University College and other teacher training colleges, such as Church, G.C Foster, Moneague, Bethlehem Moravian, Shortwood, Sam Sharpe, St. Joseph’s, Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts and College of Agriculture, Science and Education. Joan has shared a host of voluntary work in developing and implementing custom-designed programmes based on accessed needs with the medical fraternity, homes of safety for children, juvenile centres, adult correctional institutions in her home country Jamaica.
Joan’s professionalism and innovativeness have been recognized in multiple areas including, two one-hour segments on the locally televised in-depth programme Profile. The Belize Life Underwriter’s Staff Development Workshop participants and the Women’s Fellowship of the United Church in Grand Cayman, along with many Jamaicans who have also documented their glowing commendations and the desire for more from this vivacious facilitator.
